==Early life==
Keeping up with the tradition of the Guru Shishya Sampradaya, wherein students visit their gurus face to face on a daily or a weekly basis to learn music, Smitha began learning Carnatic vocal music at the age of four and gave her first public performance in 1994. Her renditions in concerts reflects a melodious voice and a mastery of the four fundamental elements of classical music namely Sruthi, Swara, Raga and Thala that comes as a result of several years of training and practice. Smitha's concerts have spellbound diverse audiences from Rasikas to the lay man alike across cities and towns all over India and abroad. Her enthusiasm and energy to promote these fine arts is noteworthy.
